UNIFORM SALE
Remember the uniform sale is Tuesday, June 2 from 9am until 3PM (after late car/walker) in the gym.  Please no early birds.  Attach an envelope with name and price if you want to sell an item...drop it off in the gym Friday, Monday or Tuesday.  Buyers, please bring small bills and change as we may not be able to make change for your purchase as we pay each seller directly into their envelope.

ST. FRANCIS STUDENTS NAMED 2009 STATE AND NATIONAL HANDWRITING CHAMPIONS
Anna R. (Grade 6), Austin G. (Grade 7) and Allison G. (Grade 8) have been named the 2009 State Handwriting Winners in the National Handwriting Contest sponsored by Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers.  There were 200,000 entries in this year's competition nation wide.  The State of Ohio has 16 winners - eight public school winners and eight non-public school winners.  We are extremely proud to have three of the non-public school winners in Ohio. 

The State Winners and their teachers received beautifully-engraved wood pens a special award  certificate, and a $50 gift certificate from Zaner-Bloser for the school.

Austin was named the 7th grade National Champion.  Austin is one of eight non-public students in the Nation competing to become the Grand National Champion.  As National Grade 7 Champion, Austin won a Nintendo DS/Brain Age Game Package, a $500 savings bond, special award certificate and t-shirts for his classmates, teacher, and family.  The school received a $100 gift certificate for learning materials.  Austin was the 6th grade State Champion winner last year.

April 30th was an exciting day as the Champions were honored by the students of St. Francis de Sales at an assembly presenting them with their certificates as State and National Winners.

LANDS' END NEWS
Our school is now part of Lands' End's Preferred School Program.  Lands' End will give our school 3% of every purchase for uniforms such as polo shirts, pants, shorts, etc.  Our Preferred School Number is 9001-3007-1.  Please use this number when making purchases.

ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS
ALL Volunteers must have BCII Fingerprints/Background Checks done and on file in the office BEFORE they will be permitted to volunteer.  Queen of Heaven Church, 1800 Steese Road in Green (between Massillon Road and Greensburg Road), has electronic (no ink) fingerprinting equipment to conduct the check.  You may call Queen of Heaven Church at 330-896-2345 to arrange for a time to be  fingerprinted for BCII and to find out what information you should take with you.  Please remember to take your driver's license with you for identification.

Please click on VIRTUS Online and select our diocese Cleveland, OH (Diocese) for an up-to-date, complete listing of VIRTUS Trainings and to register online.  All VIRTUS workshops last three hours, and you may attend a workshop at any location.  There is no registration fee.  If you have questions about VIRTUS training or background checks, please call the school office at 330-644-0638.

FUNDINGFACTORY RECYCLING PROGRAM
St. Francis de Sales is participating in the Funding Factory Recycling Program!  Please donate your empty printer cartridges and used cell phones to our school, and we'll take it from there.

The more we recycle, the more we benefit. Just bring them to the school and drop them into our collection box found on the Kindergarten/First Grade floor (outside Mrs. Palmer's Room 10). Ask your friends and relatives to save them for our school too.

ST. FRANCIS DE SALES ROSARY MAKERS
Our students have made more than 500 rosaries this year.  The Rosary Makers of St. Francis are coordinated by parishioner LeNore Reed. They have made thousands of rosaries to send to parishes and missions here in the United States and around the world! If you would like to learn to make rosaries, or if you would like to assist in this ministry in any way, please contact Mrs. Reed at 330-753-9704.

This year, our school liturgies are celebrated on Thursdays at 10:00 am. You are always invited to come and pray with us.

MARKET DAY
Market Day is still here for all of your meal, snack and entertaining needs!!!!!!   Market Day products will help to ease your preparation burden as the products will be ready and waiting in your freezer - and you've helped out the school!!!!  Lots of great price breaks on meats for the grill - and with your $35 or more purchase, Market Day will throw in a free bottle of grilling sauce!

Orders due by June 9th for pick up on June 13th do not need to be stockpiled.  There will be a Market Day sale held during summer break on Tuesday, July 21st in the evening.  Order forms will be available at the June 13th sale, by ordering online, or by contacting me.
