INK CARTRIDGE AND CELL PHONE RECYCLING
Throughout the school year we are collecting printer ink cartridges, copier tonors, and picture ink cartridges. The more we recycle, the more we benefit. Just bring them to the school and drop them into our collection box found on the Kindergarten/First Grade floor (outside Mrs. Palmer's Room 10). Ask your friends and relatives to save them for our school too.

We recently had to change recycling companies.  For a complete list of the items currently accepted for recycling, please go to
www.Fundingfactory.com.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Palmer at LJPFIRST@hotmail.com.

ST. FRANCIS DE SALES ROSARY MAKERS
Our students have made more than 500 rosaries this year.  Students who do not wish to continue making rosaries should turn in their left-over beads so that they can be redistributed to others who would like to continue to make rosaries. The Rosary Makers of St. Francis are coordinated by parishioner LeNore Reed. They have made thousands of rosaries to send to parishes and missions here in the United States and around the world! If you would like to learn to make rosaries, or if you would like to assist in this ministry in any way, please contact Mrs. Reed at 330-753-9704.

THE YEARBOOKS ARE IN!
If you didn't get a chance to order last year's yearbook and still want one, please send in an envelope with $18 in the form of cash or check (made payable to St. Francis de Sales) to Mr. Scullen. Please remember to include your student's name, grade, and room number on the envelope and indicate that it's a yearbook order.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR MASS
This year, our school liturgies are celebrated on Thursdays at 10:00 am. You are always invited to come and pray with us.

MARKET DAY
May is the beginning of summer events - lots of picnics, cook outs, celebrations - as well as the usual hustle and bustle of everyday life!   Market Day has some great items to help you with that!  Great prices on grilling items like burgers and steaks, favorites like french toast sticks (really help to make the morning easier!) and items for entertaining!!!!   And, for a $75 or more order, Market Day will throw in a beach bag - FREE!

Orders are due to school or the internet (noon) by Tuesday May 13th.   Check out www.marketday.com for additional clearance items!

Thank you to everyone who helps to support Market Day in every way - from the reminder call makers, to our adult and student volunteers who get up very early on a Saturday morning each month to help sort and pack to the families and friends of the St Francis students and parish who purchase items.  Our students and staff of the school thank you for helping to provide for the extras needed.

We will still have one more Market Day sale in June and a sale TBD in early August!

Spring blessings,

GIFT CARD/CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (SCRIP)
Through the purchase of Gift Certificates and Gift Cards, you can shop for someone special and support our school at the same time - with no extra cost to you!  Selected area grocery store and gas station cards are always available Monday-Friday (except 11:45 to 12:30) at the parish office to purchase-no need to wait until the delivery date.  The current order form, program details, and special offers from participating businesses are available through the link on the right.

To help you plan your purchases while helping the school earn a higher percentage of the card's value, click on:
Back-To-School Bonus Discounts.  It shows the details, start dates and end dates of each bonus discount. In addition, you can also view this list by clicking on: Retailer List of the SCRIP website and going to "Special Offers" listed on the far left of the web page. SCRIP updates it regularly to help you keep track of all the great deals that retailers are offering your school.

Just think: If 200 families participate in this certificate program at $100 a month with an average of 5% profit, we could raise $12,000 a year for our school!

MORE WAYS TO SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL
We are still saving General Mill Box Tops. Turn them in to the school office by the end of April with your student's name, grade, and room number.  Also, your grocery dollars spent at Giant Eagle can add up to a contribution to St. Francis de Sales School.  Register our school number 1067 at
www.gianteagle.com or call 1-800-474-4777, and our school will benefit from the Giant Eagle Apples for Education campaign.

INTRODUCING:  THE NEW ST. FRANCIS YOUTH CHOIR
This is an invitation to your children who are in second thru eighth grades, who love music, to join the NEW St. Francis Youth Choir.  This choir is a parish activity, and I am reaching out to all parish children.

The St. Francis Youth Choir will sing once a month at the 11:00 am Mass.  There will be two practices a month to prepare for the Mass.  In order to accommodate PSR students, home-schoolers, and day school children, practices will be scheduled on specific Fridays from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.  Interested children must attend both practices to sing at the Sunday Mass.  A full dedicated commitment must be given to participate.  There will be no make-up practices.  If your child becomes ill or an emergency occurs, please call me, and we will discuss an excused absence.

The purpose of the St. Francis Youth Choir is to give the children another opportunity to fully participate in the Mass.  They will praise and worship God in song in order to enhance the Liturgy --- remember --- "singing is praying twice."  Participation will also allow the children to grow stronger in their faith.  The children will need to be quiet and reverent during Mass and have the self-discipline to keep the Mass a prayerful experience for all.

The remaining schedule is as follows:
May 9th and May 16th - Practice 4:30-5:30 pm
May 18th - 11:00 Mass

To register, please fill out the registration form and turn it in to your child's day school teacher, PSR teacher, give it to Mrs. McVicker personally, or mail it to the parish office (Attn:  Mrs. McVicker) at the address below.  Please feel free to contact Mrs. McVicker at 330-896-7122 if you have any questions.
