St. Francis de Sales School at 4009 Manchester Road, Akron, OH 44319 US - Home

Welcome to St. Francis de Sales School in Akron, Ohio!
Learn.  Believe.  Soar.

IT'S TIME FOR THE INVENTION FAIR!
Students are required to come up with an idea for a new product, an improvement for an existing product, or an idea that solves a problem and/or makes life better.  Inventions cannot be food!

January 28th is the date for the Invention Fair!  All students in fifth through eighth grades participate.  St. Francis de Sales requires approval of the invention that each student selects.  Approvals must be obtained by November 20th through Mrs. Salamon in Room 3.  Please seek approval before or after school, first come basis.  We advise that students do not share invention ideas before approval.  Also, please return the Invention Fair Regulation page with the parent and student signatures by November 20th.

All projects will be brought to school on January 27 from 3:30  p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  All projects will go home after the invention fair viewing on January 28.  The evening will end at 9:00 p.m.  The school does not have a storage area.  If this time frame does not work in your schedule, you must find family or friends to help out.

Volunteers are needed to help set up and take down the tables.  Volunteers are also needed to help monitor the gym during the Invention Fair viewing.

Please click on
Invention Fair Guidelines and Regulations and Invention Fair Judging Sheet  for Word documents containing complete Invention Fair details.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Salamon.

HELP ST. FRANCIS DE SALES KEEP THE WORLD "GREEN" AND HELP THE SCHOOL AT THE SAME TIME!
We will be working with the Funding Factory collecting used ink, printer/toner cartridges and cell phones to be recycled.  We collect them, ship them out, and we benefit!

Please collect printer ink, copier toners (no tube toners), picture ink cartridges, and cell phones.  The more we have, the more we benefit.   You can collect them from home and from the workplace too!  Just bring them to the school and drop them into our collection box found on the Kindergarten/First Grade floor.

For a complete list of the items currently accepted for recycling, please go to
www.Fundingfactory.com.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Palmer at mrsljpalmer@yahoo.com.

ST. FRANCIS DE SALES ROSARY MAKERS
The Eighth Grade Rosary Makers of St. Francis are coordinated by parishioner LeNore Reed.  Mrs. Reed is assisted by Mrs. Weber and Mr. Green.  We meet once a week at lunch time, and the members of our ministry have made thousands of rosaries over the years to send to parishes and missions in the United States and around the world!

Our awesome, new members have turned in 67 beautiful rosaries so far.  We would especially  like to  thank Mr. Scullen for giving his time to support and encourage his students in our Eighth Grade Rosary Makers ministry.

Teaching St. Francis de Sales students to make rosaries is a rewarding experience.  If you would like to learn to make rosaries, or if you would like to assist in this special ministry in any way, please contact Mrs. Reed at 330-753-9704.  New volunteers are always welcome and appreciated!
